Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRI)

contoh2 ubat nya ialah:

• Sertraline --> 26 jam
• Fluvoxamine (Luvox) --> 15 jam
• Fluoxetine (Prozacs) --> 4-6 hari
• Escitalopram --> 27-32 jam

Pharmacodynamics: meningkatkan kadar serotonin dalam synaps otak.

Indikasi:

1. Depression
2. Anxiety Disorder
3. Eating Disorder
4. Pre-menstrual Dysphoric Disorder
5. Off label- premature ejaculation

side-effects:

1. lasts for 4 weeks - as body adapts
2. Sexual dysfunction
3. Insomnia & sedation
4. Weight gain
5. Headache & dizziness
6. Gastro-intestinal tract effects
7. Serotonin Syndrome (rare) - usually happens in overdose cases.
